Early risks include bleeding, infection, staple-line leak, blood clots, breathing problems and complications of anaesthesia. Dehydration and difficulty tolerating fluids can lead to readmission. Later issues can include reflux, narrowing, gallstones, nutritional deficiencies, insufficient loss or weight regain.
