Istanbul Bariatric Center ("we", "us") is the practice of Op. Dr. Murat Üstün in Istanbul, Turkey. This policy explains what personal information we collect through istanbulbariatriccenter.com and our patient-coordination channels, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

  • Contact details you send through our forms, WhatsApp, e-mail or phone: name, e-mail address, phone number and country.
  • Health information you choose to share so we can assess your suitability for treatment, such as height, weight, medical history, medications and previous surgery. This is special-category data and is used only for your medical assessment.

How we use it

  • To answer your enquiry and provide a treatment recommendation and quotation.
  • To arrange your consultation, travel, hospital admission and aftercare if you decide to proceed.
  • To keep the medical records we are legally required to hold.
  • To understand how the website is used and improve it.

We do not sell your data and we do not use your health information for marketing.

Legal basis

We process your data under Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK) and, for visitors from the UK and EU, the UK GDPR / EU GDPR. Health data is processed on the basis of your explicit consent and for the purpose of providing medical care; contact data on the basis of taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Who we share it with

Your information is shared only with the people involved in your care: our medical and coordination team, the partner hospital where your procedure takes place, and, where you have booked them through us, accommodation and transfer providers. Each receives only what they need. Website hosting and analytics providers process technical data on our behalf.

International transfers

Our practice is in Turkey, so data you send from another country is transferred to Turkey. We protect it with appropriate safeguards and keep it confidential.

Retention

Enquiries that do not lead to treatment are deleted within 2 years. Medical records of treated patients are kept for the period required by Turkish healthcare regulations.

Cookies

The site uses essential cookies (for example, to remember your language) and analytics cookies that help us see which pages are useful. You can block cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

Your rights
